Skip to contentClose your eyes and let the acoustic rhythms take you on a journey through world beats and styles. Feel your shoulders start to sway and your feet tap. As you become entranced by the sound, you look up to see the band at work, only to find that there are only two musicians on stage. “Jimmy and Enrique” is the acoustic and captivating musical collaboration of two artists that sounds like more.
Guitarist Jimmy Patton and percussionist Enrique Platas have combined their talents to form this award-‐winning duo. Their music can be described as having an international flair as they fuse flamenco, middle-‐eastern, salsa, calypso, Brazilian, and other world rhythms into their compositions and arrangements giving creation to their unique, fiery world-‐music style. Jimmy and Enrique’s debut album In The Moment, released on Pacific Records (January 2012), features 10 original compositions all written and composed by Jimmy and Enrique. Listeners will experience virtuosic guitar passages accompanied by exotic percussive rhythms, which together produce a sound that will grab your soul. Their live performance further accentuates their musical skill: Jimmy and Enrique are In The Moment and it’s a surprise what happens in their live performance -‐ a guarantee you’ll never hear a song the same way twice. With several Southern California shows already scheduled, look for them to embark on a larger tour soon. ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Nationally acclaimed guitarist Jimmy Patton is renowned for his ability to play two separate guitars at the same time, playing both melody and accompaniment parts simultaneously. Originally from Taiwan, a phenomenal guitarist with wide-‐ranging influences (from Django Reinhardt to the Gypsy Kings to Metallica), Patton has to be seen (and heard) to be believed. In 2001, Patton claimed the title of Guitar Center’s “Best Unsigned Guitarist in the Nation,” defeating over 3,000 guitarists across the entire United States at the “Guitarmageddon” competition. Patton has shared the stage with Grammy Award winners Stanley Jordan and Terrance Blanchard. Aside from his busy performance schedule, he is equally active with recording, arranging, and producing albums for other world-‐music artists. Patton is currently signed, and has recorded two albums with the Pacific Records label. Enrique Platas is an independent drummer and percussionist with a specialty in Cajon. Originally from Mexico City and a graduate of Tech of Monterrey in Querétaro, he has become an accomplished session drummer in both the United States and Mexico, touring and recording with some of Latin America’s top producers and pop stars while actively performing with world-‐music artists in the USA. He has worked with top producers including Javier Calderon (Yuridia, Aleks Syntek), and Grammy Award winner Alan Sanderson (Rolling Stones, Switchfoot). You can hear the talents of Platas on many of the recordings for artists under the Sony/BMG Mexico label such as “Latin-‐American Idol” winner Mayre Martinez, Latin Grammy Award winner Juan Manuel, and Latin Grammy nominatee Victor Manuelle. Platas has toured with Latin pop star Yuridia, and Manolito of the Gypsy Kings. He has also had the privilege to share the stage with trumpet sensation Chris Botti, and alternative-‐rock mega group the B-‐52’s.
