Split Rail Fence will celebrate the release of their debut album, This American Dream, with a special concert this Sunday, July 26, at McGuffie’s Live, from 4–7 p.m. The Pacific Records rootsrock band will perform songs from the new record, produced by GRAMMY® winner John DiBiase (Jeff Beck, The Offspring, Miley Cyrus, Prince, Taj Mahal). A
To mark the occasion, Split Rail Fence has turned the album release show into a benefit for
East County Transitional Living Center (ECTLC) directing one third of the $10 cover charge to support local programs addressing homelessness and recovery. An ECTLC representative will
be in attendance to answer questions and provide information. “Our album release concert is an opportunity to give back, raise awareness, and help fund programs that make lasting change possible,” said Split Rail Fence’s singer songwriter Ron Rice. “We’ve seen firsthand how the center supports people in our community. It’s a safe place — a bridge from one chapter to the next.” Also on the bill will be Tamar Berk and Tim Edwards.
Rice wrote eight songs for This American Dream, a collection of lean, melodic rock ’n’ roll with
country twang and punk bite. After years in the San Diego music scene, he returned to Nashville to collaborate with songwriter Dan Banks on themes of midlife, resilience, and the American dream. One track, “Sunny San Diego,” captures the beauty, affluence, and hardship that shape life in Southern California. “Southern California offers beautiful weather and impossible living conditions at the same time,” Rice said. “The song contrasts ambition, wealth, and people barely hanging on just blocks apart. Split Rail Fence is hurt that still believes in hope.”
Performing with Rice in Split Rail Fence on Sunday are guitarist Peter Economy, bassist Sppike Mike Muellenberg (Spice Pistols), and drummer Tim Dowd (Solitary Diamonds). East County Transitional Living Center is a nonprofit focused on ending homelessness, addiction, and poverty in San Diego County. Core programs include emergency housing, a one-year ministry based recovery program, family restoration, and workforce training. The organization is also launching an effort to provide children with backpacks.
