Steven Ybarra
Bio:
One of the most gifted, honest musicians to emerge from San Diego’s thriving singer-songwriter scene in years, national recording and touring artist Steven Ybarra has captivated crowds across North America with his guitar, his voice, and a keen ear for that perfectly melody. Along the way he’s earned not just devoted fans, but numerous accolades, including four San Diego Music Awards and a San Diego Songwriter’s Guild Platinum Award. Having shared stages with renowned artists including Gavin DeGraw, Switchfoot, Jason Mraz, Jeremy Camp, Sugar Ray and Hootie & the Blowfish, Ybarra is already a hometown fixture. His most recent albums, “Love Love Love,” and “Best Days,” are succinct gems, set to catapult his solo career.
The world at large is already taking notice: Ybarra recently scored a licensing deal with Universal/Ingrooves for the title track of “Love Love Love.” His music, a fresh and melodic blend of pop and gospel-inflected modern country, has been featured on MTV, NBC, ESPN, and in movies and documentaries. He’s played the House of Blues, Coors Amphitheater, San Diego Street Scene and L.A.’s famed Whiskey A Go Go among thousands of other stages, from coffee shops to amphitheaters. Ybarra has also used his microphone and guitar to give voice to dozens of charitable causes, including the Surfrider Foundation, the Salvation Army, the March of Dimes and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He’s poised for the spotlight, and he’s going about it in the most virtuous way he knows.
Ybarra’s musical journey began in childhood, like so many other artists. But not everyone had the unique blend of sonic influences — Julio Iglesias, the renowned tenor Helmut Lotti — that spread throughout his Houston, Texas household thanks to his German and Hispanic roots. The distilled essence of the music he grew up with, coupled with the Laurel Canyon-era rock and pop ballads he absorbed as a teenager in San Diego, would come to define Ybarra’s signature sound. And the precision and craft he honed during a songwriting stint on Nashville’s famed Music Row would ensure that he’d continue to churn out impeccably written hits, album after album.
There is another side of Ybarra’s childhood that had a significant impact that carried over into adulthood, and, naturally, seeped into his soulful sound. Ybarra attended Catholic school through 8th grade, which set a spiritual foundation for the budding musician’s life and gave his music a sincerity no amount of lessons could buy. He sang every week in church, and by regularly demonstrating his talent in front of his family and the congregation, Ybarra’s confidence and stage presence was set at a young age. These first gigs, as they were, showed Ybarra the amazing sense of fulfillment his music could bring to others and himself. In his role as worship arts leader at San Diego’s Grace Point Church, Ybarra has given himself a creative outlet for his music, and he’s constantly inspiring others to pursue their own creative dreams. Take a listen, and let his music inspire you.

Hilly Rubin
Bio:
Hilly Rubin is a 19-year-old Singer/Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. His music ranges stylistically from heavy hitting rock and roll, to groovy pop, and lyrical, introspective folk tunes, not necessarily skipping over anything in between.
This San Diego native is much more than just a kid with an acoustic guitar. Growing up in a musical family, Hilly was never deprived of diverse musical influences. The infectious “Doot Doot Doot” of Third Eye Blind’s 1997 release, “Semi-Charmed Life”, was the simple melodic seed being planted which would eventually blossom into a rich passion for music.
The driving force which would feed that passion from an early age were artists such as Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Ben Harper, and Bob Dylan.
Rubin’s maturity shines through his singing as well as songwriting… a rare combination at such a young age. He has a lot to say about the human condition, and it seems to be rooted in a very honest and humble place.
His first single, “Shades of Gray” starts off with a common college aged person’s story of a “long night of drinking”, and quickly switches to an uncommon self-realization that there is a much better way to be than “stumbling over every single word” spoken. This better way is discovering that life is ever changing and full of miracles big and small, and full of lessons for all.
Keep both eyes and ears wide open for Hilly’s next single, and his debut LP to be released in the Fall of 2014, with Pacific Records.

Wes James

Wes James is a hip-hop recording artist from Carlsbad, California. Armed with his lyrical flow and electric stage presence playing shows throughout Southern California, Wes was discovered by Shawn Barron, Senior Director of A&R at Atlantic Records. Shawn was impressed with Wes and invited him to meet with him at Atlantic Records in Burbank. Wes rapped for some people at the office and brought his guitar so that he could show his other side. He played and sang a reggae tune he wrote and after realizing Wes’s unique talent and diversity, Shawn and his partner, Gary Leon, signed him to a production deal with their company SBGL Entertainment. Wes recorded his second mixtape, “Belladonna”, at the Atlantic Record studios and it was released that summer. The mixtape was well received and Wes started getting recognition and respect in the hip hop world.
The buzz about Wes was at deafening levels when Wes caught the ear of Pacific Records, an independent label out of San Diego. The team got together and made the decision to sign him to the burgeoning Southern California label for the release of Wes’s debut album.

Social Club
Bio:
With a sound falling somewhere between Gotye, Muse and Maroon 5, San Diego based Social Club is well on their way to becoming the definitive rock / indie / pop band of 2014.
Born in early 2011, Social Club has solidified their sound with an un-relenting presence both live and on the Internet. After releasing their debut EP, Pictureshow, Social Club inked a deal with Pacific Records. Following this release, Social Club quickly rose to the top of the San Diego music scene, pulling record crowds at local venues and finding feature spots on local television and radio shows.
But Social Club has a unique perspective on success, which stems from the unique composition of the band. Lead singer and guitarist, John Levan says, “Coming from West Virginia, I see things a bit different than the average guy from Hollywood.” John continues, “We’re quite happy just making music and sharing it with fans — that’s what we’re all about.”
Drummer Jeffrey Litzman and James Spratley agree, but emphasizes the band’s live performance. “While we love to make music for fans, there’s nothing like a live show,” says Jeffrey.
“We’re all about having a good time,” replies James.
Finally, and not uncommon, synth/keys player Thea Tochihara sums it all up. “We care about our fans, our music, the road and our friends in San Diego that believed in us before we had anything…We’re lucky to have this opportunity now, and can only hope it will go on forever.”
True to the band’s commentary, this is just the beginning for Social Club. After releasing their album, Gamma Rays, Social Club won MOFILM’s “Take Your Band to Texas” video competition with their music video for “Slow Motion,” beating out thousands of bands nationwide. This resulted in Social Club making their way to Austin, TX to perform at the 2013 SXSW Festival

Mayfield
Bio:
Lead Singer/Songwriter Ben Bartel grew up in the mountains of California’s central valley. Just south of Yosemite. There he learned a passion for Folk/Bluegrass. He packed up his passion for music along with his guitar and Headed south where he met up with bassist Ben Barnes, and banjo player Jeremy Clifton. They struck it off quickly and soon after pulled in Ryan Woolsey, another from the northern mountains, to fill out the sound with a second guitar to fill out the sound of their driving folk rock. making their sound nearly full.
The final piece of the puzzle was found in Georgia: Erin Lancaster. Friends with Ben for several years, they had often talked of what it would be like to be in a group together, but the distance seemed too great. When Mayfield began to make headway in San Diego, they decided, enough was enough, and the band got together and flew Erin out . The power and attitude found in the new female vocalist were a perfect match for the band’s current lineup, so the sound was complete.
