SAN DIEGO, Calif. Dec. 30 2025 Singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Brian Witkin steps into new creative territory with the release of Dreamer, an introspective rock composition available exclusively as a 7″ vinyl single. The release marks a rare solo offering from Witkin, who is best known for his work as a bandleader, collaborator, and producer, and reflects a more personal chapter in his songwriting journey.
Dreamer finds Witkin stepping into a different lane with an introspective rock composition released exclusively on vinyl. The 7″ pairs the original track with an instrumental B-side and features Brian Witkin on vocals, piano, and guitar, joined by his brother Sean Witkin on drums and Scott Parish on bass. Recorded at Hillhaven Studios and SeaCliff Studios, the tracks were mixed and mastered to tape by producer Chris Hobson at Rarefied Recording.
Although stylistically distinct from much of his recent work, Dreamer draws from Witkin’s earlier musical roots. Raised on rock and blues and shaped by years of studio experience on both sides of the glass, Witkin has built a career spanning performance, production, songwriting, and music law. His work has included extensive collaboration across genres, while maintaining a deep respect for analog recording, musicianship, and the craft of songwriting.
“I wrote this song during COVID, and it stayed with me for years,” says Witkin. “It’s a little outside the lane I’ve been in lately, and because of that I took my time recording it. I don’t have plans to launch a solo career outside of my band right now, but this song felt like it deserved a release. A 7-inch felt like the right format—intentional, tactile, and honest. I grew up in a rock and blues world, even if my musical path has taken me somewhere else in recent years.”
Pressed exclusively on vinyl and not released to digital streaming platforms, Dreamer is intended to be experienced as a physical record—a focused snapshot of a song that lived and evolved over time. The instrumental B-side offers listeners a deeper look into the composition itself, highlighting the arrangement and interplay between the musicians.
Dreamer is available now as a limited 7″ vinyl release.
